Why to get married on the Isle of Skye!
Why choose an Isle of Skye Wedding? A quick Google search will show you just how incredible this little place that I am lucky enough to call home really is but, just in case you need a little bit more convincing, here are 5 reasons to have your wedding on Skye!
LOCATIONS
If adventure and exploring outdoors is your thing, you’re looking in the right place! Skye has seemingly endless options for ceremony & photograph locations – whether that be for an elopement surrounded by mountains or for a traditional Hotel Wedding. Places like the Quirang, Old Man of Storr and the Fairy Glen are popular outdoor spots, but there are so many little hidden gems you’ll find out about as you get in touch with local vendors and start to plan your trip up. Hotels such as Sligachan, Duisdale and the Cuillin Hills and Air BnB’s like Red Fox Retreat, Ard Cana and Bealach Uige Bothy are all incredible places to stay for a few nights depending on what you’re looking for, and are all great bases to go off an explore the Island from!
FOOD
We are so lucky to have some amazing, award winning, restaurants here on Skye. Us islanders are proper foodies and it shows! Places such as Edinbane Lodge (tasting menu), Scorrybreac and Kinloch Lodge are amazing for high standard evening meals and they focus of the use of local produce to create their dishes. If you can get a dinner reservation, I wouldn’t hesitate in booking in to ensure you get a memorable, mouth-watering meal in before you go home! In terms of lunch spots you can’t go wrong with places like The Oyster Shed, Deli Gasta, Birch and Caberfeidh Bar for great quality light bites.
VENDORS
Much like with food, you are also going to be spoilt for choice when it comes to local Vendors to make your Wedding something truly special. There are some seriously talented people on the Island – from musicians such as The Skye Piper and Ciorstaidh Beaton (harpist) to Bakers (Skye Bakehouse, Creatures of Habit) to Photographers (Belle Art Photography, Lynne Kennedy, Penny Hardie) and everyone you could ever need in-between! All of these people mentioned - and many others - will have great local knowledge which is invaluable when coming to Skye for your Wedding day. We will all do our part to ensure you don’t miss out on anything and help you to make the most of the time you spend on the Island!
SENSE OF COMMUNITY
A very special aspect of Skye, and why I think it really is the perfect spot for a Wedding of any size, is the sense of community we all share. People are always going to be willing to help you out and make your day as special and memorable as possible – which is exactly what you want on your big day! A lot of the vendors work together fairly regularly as well which makes for a great team behind you who all have great passion for what they do.
IT’S UNIQUE
There really are very few places in the world like the Isle of Skye – all of the good locations, food and talented people combined with incredible views and unpredictable weather makes it a place that any adventure seeking couple will love. No matter what style of day you choose to have, you are guaranteed some great stories and amazing photographs. Plus, the fact that we get every season in a single day means that there isn’t really a bad time of year to come!
